Knitwear Technical Editing

What is Technical Editing?

The pattern is checked row by row for spelling, grammar, and mathematical accuracy, ensuring that final measurements are correct and that pattern text cross-references any charts, schematics, or style guides provided.

  • Knit Technical Editing

Check stitch counts, instructions, measurements and formatting to ensure error-free patterns that are professional, easy to follow, and a consistent style flow for all pattern users.

  • Schematics & Charts

Translate written instructions into clear and accurate diagrams, ensuring that all measurements or stitch placements are correct so that there is a true visual representation to be more accessible.

  • Grading

Using mathematical calculations to adjust stitch counts, measurements, and shaping to create multiple and inclusive sizes, while ensuring consistent style and fit across all sizes.

  • Style Guide

A document to maintain uniformity across all patterns, with standardised terms, abbreviations and formatting guidelines, making them easier to follow and professionally polished.

Coordinate / Co-Host Test Knits

Test knitting is when knitters work on a new pattern before it is officially published to help the designer clarify instructions and ensure the pattern works as intended for all sizes. Some or all of the process will be arranged for you.
